Mike Sampey

Mike is a multi-media producer.   2008 finds him focussing almost entirely on producing music for television. He writes virtually non-stop for several music publishers producing music for advertising, flim, television and radio. Mike's also involved in the design and development of a variety of websites, and still occasionally makes radio programmes for the BBC.

Music

In 2008, Mike's work has achieved primetime broadcasts on all UK terrestrial television channels including BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five on programmes ranging from The Oprah Winfrey Show to Gok Wan's How to Look Good Naked. Over the summer, his music for TV commercials has been aired on more than 40 television networks in the UK and 2008 DVD sales containing his music have topped 135,000. His work is regularly used by national television in the U.S.A., Canada, Japan, Hong Kong & China, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Taiwan, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Ireland.

Music commissions for the BBC include a cheeky version of The Archers theme tune for the recent BBC Radio 4 Four at 40 anniversary programme; the 26-part series The A-Z of Youth Culture, Fresh Air, Fresh Air Kids and Fresh Air Media; Country Matters, Earth Story and Crimescapes.

Mike is half of the two-man writing team Audio Alchemists, who write and produce an amazing variety of work for a number of music libraries, among them the world's biggest music publishers. Their work is continually broadcast around the world. You can listen to samples here

Radio

Mike's radio productions for the BBC include adaptations of the children's books A Spell Behind Bars, for BBC7's children's radio and Angela Woolfe's Avril Crump, which he directed, produced and wrote music for.

Numerous BBC Radio 4 production credits include: Home Truths, with John Peel, Word of Mouth, Airs of England and the magazine programme The Afternoon Shift.

Half-Minute Melodies,
devised and produced with cleardesignworks' Bob Carter, was developed by the BBC into a national competition as a showcase for new British television composing talent.

Design

As part of the cleardesignworks team, Mike has been involved with the design and development of websites ranging from independent media production companies, a Michelin star restaurant, composers, musicians, recording studios, photographers and complimentary therapists.   Favourite website?   This one!
